Do I Buy Hay Or Silage?

The question is often asked do I buy Hay or silage? While silage does have many qualities, but when it comes to buying / selling and transportation, hay comes out in front 9 times out of 10.

One of the many advantages of hay is the fact that you’re carting mostly dry matter and therefore dramatically decreasing the cost on a dry matter basis. This is a point that astute buyers catch onto very quickly.

Silage is perfect for on farm use, but for buying and selling we suggest hay.
