Legume Results for 20/21 Season

Legume Season Results – 2019/20 & 2020/2021

This season we saw Legume fibre values higher than last year, but protein (CP) values do remain comparable.

The Relative Feed Value (RFV) of Lucerne remain similar to last season, but saw a decrease of 23 points in

Vetch this season.

The Metabolizable Energy (ME) of Lucerne is comparable to last season, but Vetch sees an average decrease of 0.6MJ/kg ME this season compared to last.

Average Starch values remain relatively comparable to last season for both Lucerne and Vetch crops, but we do see an average decrease in WSC for both legume types, with greater variance observed in Vetch hay.

Cereal Season Results – 2019/20 & 2020/2021

Cereal Season Results – 2019/20 & 2020/2021

As with legumes, we saw a higher fibre content in the 20/21 season Cereal crops results; and consequently, we saw the RFV lower across all cereal crops this season.

We have observed a RFV drop of 19 points and 12.7 points in Barley and Oaten hay respectively. Most notable was the drop of RFV in Wheaten hay, by 28 points.

Crude Protein remains reasonably similar across 2019-21 for Barley and Oaten hay, but we did see greater variance in Wheaten hay, with almost 2% average lower CP than last season.

Barley and Wheaten hay show a poorer ME result this season in comparison to the last; with Oaten hay the most stable value compared to last season.

Starch values have increased across cereal hay crops this season in comparison to last. We have observed a significant decrease in WSC across all Cereal hays this season.
